Have you been noticing all the creative pull-apart cakes made with cupcakes lately? I love them.
StudioDIY made an adorable cactus cake (below) and did a great tutorial.
As I was perusing Pinterest for more pull-apart cakes and saving some favorites -- I was struck with this idea: pattern charts are the perfect thing for designing one.
Now, maybe I'm late to this idea...but I thought I'd share some knitting and cross-stitch charts that I think would be fun.
Clockwise from top left:
- Pineapple from Jamie Robinson
- Suzy Marie's Love Ewe Sew Much
- "Dog Days" at Just Crafty Enough
- Friends and Foxes from BadSkirt
- Storm Trooper and other Star Wars charts from Sarah Bradberry
Wouldn't these make for some amazing cakes? I think my nephews would love me forever if I baked them some light-sabers.
Of course, you would probably want to use mini-cupcakes for some of the more complicated designs, or zoom in on one area of a chart if you weren't looking to serve 100 people. But I think these are great inspiration.
Find your pattern books and let's bake!
P.S. You can make your own chart with a free tool online like Stitch Fiddle; freehand it or upload your photos.
If you do bake our own masterpiece -- please share! Tag me on Instagram with #globalbackyard. You will make my day.
