Nine Graphic, Modern Stickers Celebrating Women & Social Equity
- Description
We've created a set of NINE Stickers celebrating the long march toward social equality and sharing some of the women throughout the centuries that have worked toward this goal.
These large format stickers will look great on your notebooks, water bottles, and laptops, or wherever you'd like to stick them. They are roughly 3x2, or about the size of a business card (though slightly larger). This set comes with all nine decals. If you have favorite designs, you can also buy them individually from our shop.
Choose matte paper (removable adhesive), matte or glossy waterproof (permanent adhesive).
BONUS:
* Easy-Peel die-cut stickers
ABOUT EACH STICKER:
CAT LADY: Features a neon tinged historical (Victorian, perhaps?) woman holding two large cats, with a target in the background. As we all know, single cat ladies belong just as much as everybody else, with votes that count equally, despite what some people might prefer.
ZERO F*CKS: Loving this determined-looking, self-possessed woman. I found her in an old, out-of-copyright knitting magazine and thought she needed to be part of this set, so I cut her out and added some neon and patterning. Of course, I added a line about what she might be thinking, too.
GODDESS: Our neon-lit goddess warrior woman, based on a vintage greek goddess illustration, is a powerful symbol we can and should channel.
LOUD and PROUD: This decal shows a fabulous vintage photograph I found, which I thought needed to be in this collection. I imagine her shouting her truth while bicycling down the road. And of course, I had to make her colorful.
DONE WITH NONSENSE: Highlighting two strong African American women from an early 20th century photograph taken in the state of Virginia, perhaps after Church. I recolored it with neon tones and added a message that resonates today. I for one am certainly Done With Nonsense!
UNBOUGHT and UNBOSSED: The star here is Shirley Chisholm, the first African American elected to Congress in 1968. She was a fierce protector of women's rights and civil rights. In 1972, she was the first black person to run for a major party nomination, as well as the first woman to run for the Democratic Party nomination for President. Of course, she didn't get that nomination. The words "Unbought and Unbossed" refer to the book former United States Representative Chisholm authored, as well as to her integrity (she was not in the pocket of anyone).
A WOMAN WITH A VOICE: This decal depicts Lady Liberty hugging and congratulating a Suffragette activist on the passing of the 19th amendment, which guaranteed a woman's right to vote (passed by Congress June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920 -- this accomplishment took many decades of work to make happen).
VOTE: Depicts many of the historical women that worked to improve things for their fellow females. We highlight a few stars in each of the four waves of feminism we've had thus far -- going back to the 1800s suffrage movement.
RADICAL CHANGE: This sticker depicts the historically significant Angela Davis, a feminist activist that advocated for prison reformations, women's rights, racial equality, and changes to our capitalist system. She was (and is) a staunch LBGTQ champion as well as an emeritus professor, having spent a good portion of her life as an academic.
